A comprehensive Publications Process Audit was performed to provide an external perspective on reviewing, evaluating, and refining the university’s current publications processes. Key internal stakeholder groups were identified and asked to complete an online survey. In-person interviews then followed to gain a more detailed understanding of each group’s needs, working styles, and capacity issues. Existing data from earlier external stakeholder research were also reviewed. The resulting recommendations outlined an organized approach to the publications process, with enough policies and procedures in place to add structure and accountability without instituting an unrelenting, rigid environment that didn’t allow for life’s realities (not to mention last-minute but must-have projects).
